March 29, 2017 –
The New Mexico Center for Therapeutic riding recently received a $3,000 donation from the Los Alamos Pony Club. The donation was provided as additional assistance towards purchasing a Surehands Lift for our wheelchair ramp. The Surehand lift is an electronic device used to assist individuals with disabilities while getting on and off the horse. The Surehand lift is a safe way to transfer riders from a wheelchair to the back of a horse. This will not only make mounting the horse possible for more potential riders, it will help those riders gain confidence in their ability to mount and dismount our horses safely every time they ride. We are thrilled to be able to purchase this important aid now, and we know it will be of tremendous help in delivering services to our students with limited mobility.
Los Alamos Pony Club is a non-profit organization with a mission to develop character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports. Thank you, Los Alamos Pony Club, for your generosity and your willingness to make a difference in the lives of our special needs equestrians!
