Programs Overview

Riding Programs

Horseback riding and interacting with horses has been shown to improve motor skills, communication skills, the ability to form relationships, sensory awareness, and overall well-being.

NMCTR’s riding  and horsemanship programs allow students of all ages and abilities to learn horse management, riding, and mindfulness skills with the ultimate goal of learning to ride as independently as possible.

In addition to riding programs, NMCTR offers structured equine-assisted, unmounted activities for youth experiencing mental health challenges and for elders in nursing home and memory care facilities.

Our community partnerships allow us to provide services to students of all ages and abilities throughout Santa Fe County. Our partners include the New Mexico School for the Deaf, Santa Fe Public Schools, Santa Fe Indian School, and various day rehabilitation centers and nursing homes.
