April 5, 2018 –
NMCTR received another Pancakes on the Plaza grant from Rotary Club of Santa Fe totaling $14,250!! We also received a grant in 2016 and with those funds we launched a School Outreach Program which allows us to offer scholarships to schools and their special needs students. Thus far we have served multiple classes from Eldorado, Nino Otero, Aspen Magnet, and NMSD. This program has been a tremendous success and we currently have schools waitlisted. With the current funds granted we will be able to offer 6 more scholarships, purchase riding equipment and teaching aids, and hire a part time instructor to assist with the additional demand!
On March 29th our Board President, Shelley Phelan, attended a special luncheon to receive the check from the president of Rotary Club of Santa Fe, Zella Cox. NMCTR is one of only 12 recipients of the Pancakes on the Plaza grant this year from a pool of over 60 applicants so we are profoundly proud and thankful for the recognition!
Our staff, volunteers, board members and especially our riders and their families want to thank Rotary of Santa Fe from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful gift! Our motto is “changing lives one stride at a time” and because of the generosity of Rotary Club of Santa Fe many more special needs kids in our community can experience the wonder and healing of horses!
