February 2, 2022 –
New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding rang in the 2022 new year by receiving a $13,000 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM). BCBSNM grants provide support to programs and organizations that align with BCBSNM’s mission to promote health and wellness in the communities we serve.
This grant will assist in the costs of NMCTR’s School Outreach Program, Self-Mastery Program, and High School Internship program. Through these three programs, NMCTR promotes mental and physical health and wellness for every participant. With the continued support of BCBSNM, NMCTR can maintain community partnerships with the Santa Fe Schools special education department, the Santa Fe Indian School Counseling Center, and local High Schools (Masters Charter Program and Santa Fe Prep). Through all these collaborations, NMCTR can make a huge impact in the community.
Participants in the School Outreach Program see marked improvements in their physical, mental, cognitive, and social wellbeing (i.e. fine and gross motor skills, core strength, coordination, attention span, speech communication, trust of others, self-esteem and overall independence in daily living activities). Participants in the Self-Mastery Program see marked improvements in their energy awareness, breath awareness, and body awareness which strengthens their mental health. Participants in the High School Intern Program develop a sense of understanding for those with special needs, gain a positive work ethic, and develop a stronger teamwork capability.
Thank you, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, for the support and assisting NMCTR change lives one stride at a time!
