July 8, 2021 –
St. Bede’s Episcopal Church is a welcoming faith community as diverse as the many faces of Santa Fe. Honoring every person as a child of God, they seek to walk with Christ, to love and serve those in need, in our own community and beyond. St. Bede’s collects 10% of contributions every Sunday and sets it aside for community ministries that serve the needs of the community. Their Outreach Committee meets quarterly to award grants from this fund.
NMCTR is very grateful to have been awarded a $5,000 grant from St. Bede’s Episcopal Church. The funds will assist in the expansion and enhancement of NMCTR’S Summer Enrichment Therapeutic Riding Program. Over the past four years, participation in NMCTR’s innovative Summer Enrichment one-week Therapeutic Riding Program has grown annually, with many applicants turned away in previous years due to lack of resources. With the support from this grant, NMCTR will expand the program to two weeks, doubling the number of children with disabilities who will benefit from our program.
Summer break can be a disruptive time for children with disabilities who depend on consistent routines to help them cope with transitions from one activity to another and unfortunately, the pandemic took away many services that families need, especially families that have a loved one with a disability. These families need NMCTR’s services more than ever this year. With support from St. Bede’s, we will be able to provide scholarships for children with disabilities, program educational materials, a portion of horse expenses, and staff payroll hours, doubling the impact of this vitally needed, child-centered, outcome-based program.
Thank You St. Bede’s Episcopal Church!
